Nearly 400 beer lovers come to enjoy this great event.
“At Southern Napa we have really become known for our wine tasting events, so this was a chance to take that same philosophy and apply it to craft beer, on a much larger scale” said festival organizer Jim Cox. “ We needed an event like this in our area, this was a great opportunity for beer lovers to sample the many great craft beers newly available here in Alabama,” said Chris Fuchs Managing Director of Budweiser-Busch of Mobile. Pete Teske, craft beer manager for Gulf Distributing feels tasting are the key to learning about craft beers.
“When you can sample craft beers in a side by side setting it really allows the consumer a chance to identify what they really like in a beer. So this was a great way to try some new beers and discover which types of beers you enjoy most.”
In addition to beer tasting the festival attendees had a chance to meet celebrity crab boat Captain Will Bill Wichrowski from Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch. “I love coming to Alabama to meet fans of the show and I’m friends with the owners of Southern Napa, so I excited to be a part of the festival, the race and help to raise some money for the Baldwin Humane Society,” said the sometimes flip flop throwing captain. The event also featured a 5K run (The Beer run) through the streets of Daphne which was presented by Animal Wellness Center in Fairhope. “I like being involved in events that promote our local communities and this race also is benefiting the Baldwin Humane Society,” said Dr. Stephanie Powe of Animal Wellness Center.
